晚上随手挑了一张水星公司的黑胶，内容是PEPE ROMERO的FLAMENCO!，这张应该属于相当经典的录音，注意到唱片封套背面的一段注解，非常有兴趣，贴上来给大家看看

Notes about this recording

The sessions which produced this album took place in Fine Rrcording Company's Studio A, which was at one time a small ballroom with a tiny stage at one end. Here Mr. Romero sat, facing the microphones (three for the stereo version, one for the monaural) which had been hung so as to preserve the proper intimate atmosphere. Once the controls were adjusted to the delicate sound of the guitars. Mr. Romero bent his head to his instrument and began to improvise the music recorded on this disc. No controls were changed, no microphones moved for any special effects. This is exactly the way the artist sounded.
Harold Lawrence was the musical director for the session, and Clair Van Ausdall was his associate. The basic set-up was supervised by Wilma Cozart and C. R. Fine. The chief engineer was William Blachly. George Piros made the tape-to-disc transfer for the stereo version, John Johnson for the monaural.

在文字里面提到了水星录音的2个经典标准，其一是3个麦克风摆位（立体声录音），其二是在整个录音过程中，绝对不会调整设备的设定（主要应该是电平）和麦克风的摆位。联想到手上的一些水星唱片在大动态的时候有电平被吹破的现象，估计这个也应该是水星坚持的录音标准吧。

开此贴，基于自己的2个原因，一是手上有一百多张水星的CD和几十张水星的黑胶，另一个就是自己系统的扬声器ALTEC原本就是水星公司录音时的御用扬声器（常用的好像是603)。

希望各位烧友前辈能畅所欲言，谈谈自己对水星公司录音和唱片的见解。

向能很好播放水星唱片（指CD）的系统致敬。

我的水星唱片不多，但确实和播放器材有很大关系。
尤其对CD机要求比较高。
如果用抵挡系统播放，会觉得声音粗粝，很难听。
但在好一点的音响系统，效果会非常好。
我自己不能解释这种现象。

水星的唱片最大特点是质感强烈,录音风格偏近场,但不算难播...

记得应该是在5年前，买了第一张水星的发烧碟，老柴的1812，就开始一发不可收拾，目前有水星的CD约130张（套），应该基本已经收齐了。去年又开始收集水星的黑胶，不过目前只有30多张。
纵观水星的CD，基本保持了黑胶原有的风格，这个可要归功于Wilma Cozart Fine（就是 C. R. Fine的太太）。在九十年代初公司准备将水星的优秀录音数字化（CD化）的时候，请出了这位老太太重新对母带进行模数转换的工作，老太太的2个关键决定造就了水星CD的高标准和HiFI性，其一就是恢复原有的3轨开盘母带机，其二就是完全保留水星录音的所有指标（包括背景底噪），从而原汁原味地维持了水星录音的动态、密度、音场，甚至和其他录音公司相比略显偏少的空间感（反过来造就了水星录音特有的扎实度）。

水星唱片的动态和密度确实非常好,我也是从1812开始接触水星唱片的,现在仍然喜欢听听1812序曲..当然最喜欢的水星唱片是Starker的<大无>了,即使是再版LP也比CD 的音质好很多..

水星唱片对系统的动态确实是一个考验，记得5年前用的雨后超5的箱子，在水星录音的强烈攻势下，基本成了软脚蟹。
而自从用了ALTEC A7后，可以说是如鱼得水，至于后来通过学习了解到当初水星现场录音的监听箱就是ALTEC 603单元。

以前在立体声谈过这个方面的话题，感兴趣可以看看。原帖可能丢掉了很多图片，有的说法不明确了。另外，其中一些转帖内容，并非都是同意的，有的是提醒大家注意这个方面，可能很复杂，或有争议。


声音取向，也就是发烧友常常说器材之类的“声底”这些东西，其实与自己最经常听到的、最喜欢听到的那个类型的唱片是密切相关的。从软件的角度说，就是听音取向。从录音的角度看，就是“表现”与“再现”的分歧。举个具体例子说，同样是现场的录音，追求的是“实况录音”，还是“录制实况”，体现了录音师不同的音响美学观，不同的理念会导致选择不同的录音方法。

所以，录音好与不好，外在的是音效的一面，内在是是音效的另一面，他们都只能从音效中体现出来。只不过当你的理念不同，可能不欣赏或视听没感觉另一面的不同，或者把一种很好的另一面音效视作低劣等级的东西。

从我个人的欣赏角度来看，水星的古典音乐唱片，作为欣赏水星独特的录音风格很有意义，但对作为古典音乐欣赏，没有太大的意义。欣赏古典音乐，第一位是乐团的素质。

(1) The Mercury legend actually involved the legendary Mercury triumvirate C. Robert Fine (left), Wilma Cozart and Harold Lawrence. Wilma was conductor Antal Doratis secretary before joining Mercury and later became Mrs. Fine. She and Harold Lawrence were recording directors. Wilma extended the Mercury legend into the digital era and masterminded the CD and SACD reissues. In the other pictures,Wilma is seen working at the 3-to-2 channel console for LP productions

从我个人的欣赏角度来看，水星的古典音乐唱片，作为欣赏水星独特的录音风格很有意义，但对作为古典音乐欣赏，没有太大的意义。欣赏古典音乐，第一位是乐团的素质。

同意舒存前辈的部分观点，哈哈。
不过在水星录音当中还是有相当高水平的演绎，诸如谢林、斯塔克和罗梅罗家族。。。。

水星的唱片还是相当乐观的，听着蛮开心的。
