dCS 992 consumer version should be Verona I believe.
The spec shows that it can receive ext. 10M reference.
I haven't heard dCS 992 before.
But consider the power supply part, I believe dCS one is better since it uses non-switching power supply to power the unit.
Trinity's draw back is its power supply because it uses switching mode. .. but noisy to audiophile.

I had an occasion to a/b
A) 10M+Trinity  vs
B) 10M+GRb-01...
Performance wise, option A has more clear-cut 3D imaging over B)
while B) has better sonic comfort overall but comparatively blurry to A)
The reason is simple... A) both use switching powersupply... already lost badly in sonic performance, especially thei highs easily prone to over-bright, harsh... but indeed, the combo of A) gives better separation, 3D imaging, layering and presence...  
Most audiophile use cable only to tune sound, which I would say it's very INEFFECTIVE... no matter what cable you use, you still can't change the nature of power supply.  What I mean... you need to choose the correct mode of power supply instead wasting money on cable changing ( it has effect... but not effective... I mean, it doesn't even hit the core-problem yet )
You can see, both Trinity and 10M has a DC power supply option for you instead of using its built-it switching transformer. ( AC-DC )
although it's DC-DC... but the noise level decrease significantly... you can use an external-battery pack to power up your 10M / Trinity...
or use linear power circuit to feed power thru it... then, you by-passed the switching-mode power supply...
It improves hugely afterwards.
Although I didn't test A) with full linear power supply   vs B) again.  But I clearly know, spec wise, A) is >> than B) ONLY IF you know how to manage the power supply issue.

I believe Trinity is better in terms of Spec... and also, it uses more new clock module than old dCS..
Sound wise, it depends what you need... if you pursuit good 3D imaging, clear layering ( more accurate ) then, you;d better choose Trinity.  But I sincerely suggest you find someone to diy you the linear power supply to power it.
If you want convenient and better 2nd resale value.. then dCS992.

Many Audiophile with limited knowledge tends to count on a Brand name.  And it's understandable.
