莫扎特改编曲 - 钢琴奏鸣曲 弦乐重奏曲
This surprising double album will open your ears to a new world of music – one which Mozart himself would have known and loved.
Mozart’s music holds a special place in our hearts for its beauty, its emotional power, its mischievous good humour and its humanity. We love and revere it, and wouldn’t change a note of it. But in Mozart’s day, before radio or CDs, the only way to hear it was to find someone who could play it – or play it yourself! – and not everyone had an orchestra or a virtuoso soloist to hand. Music lovers rushed to buy copies of chamber music arrangements that they and their friends could play at home, and composers and publishers were happy to provide.
This album presents us with three of Mozart’s best-loved pieces, the Sinfonia concertante, the Clarinet Quintet and the Horn Quintet, as the audiences of Mozart’s day would have heard them: in arrangements for string quintet and string sextet. Performed by the Australia Ensemble, Australia’s premier chamber group, these arrangements will help you to fall in love with Mozart’s music all over again.
Also on the album are duet arrangements of Mozart piano sonatas by the great Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg. Grieg adored the music of Mozart, and wanted to honour it with the best of his own compositional skill, embracing it in the arms of his rich, Romantic musical world. He refused to tamper with Mozart’s originals – in each case, one pianist plays the music as Mozart wrote it. The other presents Grieg’s personal tribute to Mozart, subtly adding new colours and textures, extending the play of interweaving musical lines, and allowing the inner parts to blossom into fresh new life. In the hands of virtuoso pianists Julie Adam and Daniel Herscovitch, we hear Grieg and Mozart in dialogue, speaking and listening to each other, and speaking to us today.
